The IPod Nano doesn't have a way to delete songs on the device itself.  These guys can design the world's best hardware, but when it comes to software usability, they're utter morons.

For the programmers in the audience: Turns out that & doesn't mean the same thing as |

Sigh.

???? i can't delete anything except on the go playlists off my ipod. i would like to delete other playlists... but why would you want to delete songs?
???? do you mean deleting songs without being connected to itunes? my ipod doesn't do that.
Eric Hrm... Anonymous comments. Interesting. I'd want to delete songs because sometimes, there's stuff I never ever want to hear again. Hence, the desire to delete.
Eric ...And yes, Apple confirms there's no way to delete on the device itself. Laaaaaaame.
leila sorry that was me... when i press enter for a new line it just sends my comment away. i regularly delete songs off my ipod and upload new ones by connecting it to my computer. i don't see a function to delete them on the ipod without connecting it to the computer, and it's not a nano. what i mean is why would you want to delete songs "on the go" without the computer? is my ipod supposed to be able to do that? it's playlists that i wish they gave you more power over.
Eric Wacky-- I assume you're using Firefox? IE just inserts the newline. Although I think it gets trimmed out.
Eric As for why I'd want to delete: Because I have WAAAAY too many MP3s and there's junk in there I despise. I delete them as I encounter them, because I don't want to spend days combing through my music for the junk.
Eric i agree that you have some junk :p i'm glad you agree. as clint copied all of your stuff to his drive before he left... there was scary stuff there! i did some deleting myself. i don't keep all of my music on my ipod (apparently a lot of people do?).. i don't have all my music in mp3 either, but either way i like to change the albums all the time, so plugging it in is the best bet. how did you get the junk, btw?
Leila haha that was from me. it was supposed to be "Eric," and then my message.
