Thoughts on technology

I've decided that the true test of whether or not a technology is disruptive is whether or not books and movies made before the technology became popular now require explanation.  For instance, consider Silence of the Lambs.  The last time I watched it, I found myself wondering "Why the hell didn't she just call for backup on her cell phone??"  Oh, yeah. 

It's funny to think that we'll have to explain the historical context of movies made in the 90s to our kids.  :-)
