A post a day keeps old age away? 2/24/2006 2:35:00 AM
So, it's 04:30CST and I'm in Clint and Leila's living room typing away on my laptop while Clint battles the Alliance (or is it the Horde?) in the other room.  Leila's at the radio station and she played a Belle and Sebastian song for me (thanks!)

I've decided that I really need to start writing more often-- not because there's any reason to expect the world at large will read my ramblings, but rather because without writing, my days are blurring together and time is passing all too fast.  I'm 26, I'm coming up on my 5 year anniversary at Microsoft, and I have no idea where the time went.  From 1994 to 2001 or so, I kept a private journal (I once printed it-- >100 pages @8pt font) but I haven't kept much of a record since then, with the exception of occasional entry after victory or heartbreak.

I think my recurring nostalgia has been triggered by my upcoming recruiting trip (March 8) to UMD. I'll be staying in the University Hotel and Conference Center, my "dorm" for my first week as a student at UMD, and the location where I first caught sight of and later met Annick.

That this took place almost 8 and a half years ago is a source of great disbelief and consternation... to the point that I've actually bothered to recheck the math... 3100 days ago, and in some ways it feels like it was just last week.

Clint and Leila are excellent hosts, and we've got a full schedule for the rest of the weekend, so hopefully I'll have more to say again here tomorrow.  Sweet dreams!

Leila yay you're here, but asleep :) posts more often are great. but you're not old :p but of course i think it's always useful to worry about using every minute of time we have to it's fullest potential. still, worrying too much isn't a useful use of that time :p it sounds like a quarter life crisis ;)
andrewb I think you should retire to a house on a beach in australia. Come to think of it - 8.5 years ago I was 26! It's not all over for you yet!
leila where in australia are you from?
andrewb Hey just saw leila's question - does anyone read down this far? I've noticed Really Cool Blogs have comment summaries. Ahem. Anyway. I'm currently in Sydney, but consider myself a Melbourne boy as I (mostly) grew up there.
leila what are comment summaries? i like how livejournal sends you emails. cool :) i like melbourne the best from what i hear. i hear the music scene is best there and my fav. band augie march is from there. among others. i try to highlight some aus. artists on my radio show. i have a few friends in aus., sydney and melbourne, and i really want to visit..
leila ps eric takes so long to respond to comments i read down pretty far. also i'm a grad student and i read blogs to procrastinate of course:) i'm sure there is a phdcomic on this.
andrewb Melbourne is way cool - less of a tourist destination than sydney but an infinitely cooler place. The music scene there is great and they have perfected the 'wine bar' - think lounge chairs, red wine and finger food. Hrm. I'll stop now :) On my blog it shows the last 5 (chronologically) comments people have made in a sidebar. That is what I mean by a comment summary. And as for a grad student procrastinating - I am sure I dont know what you mean. :)
Eric Hey, I don't take ~that~ long to reply. I'm too lazy to add any more features to this site.
leila what are you favorite aus. artists? others i like from melbourne are sodastream and art of fighting.
